WHITE HOUSE LETTER — TRANSCRIPT July 27, 2020 To: Mrs. Tracy Anne LaPorte Dear Tracy, Thank you for taking the time to write to me. I am deeply saddened by the loss of your beloved son, Sergeant Adam LaPorte. The greatest among us are those who answer the call of duty in defense of our Nation. This is especially true of your son, an American hero, whose selfless service as a member of the United States Army will never be forgotten. I am especially grateful you took the time to share your thoughts on issues currently facing our country. Your son’s death is a tragedy, and no parent should ever undergo the incredible heartbreak you have experienced. Please know that I have shared your proposal, the 2StepACT, with the appropriate Federal agency. I pray that in the years since Adam’s death, you have been able to find some measure of comfort in his legacy and in knowing that our Nation’s debt to your family is everlasting. I am inspired by your work founding Military Moms of Texas and supporting our troops deployed abroad. I will always work hard each day to uphold the ideals for which your son and all of our brave men and women in uniform have so valiantly fought to defend. May God bless you and keep you always.
